Year 13 Cultural Capital Day – 17th December 2025

Three times a year, the normal student timetable is suspended for the day so that we can offer students an alternative array of enriching and rewarding experiences.

We do this to bring learning in the classroom to life, deepen students’ understanding of the world, and help prepare them for their next steps beyond their secondary education.

These days are referred to as Cultural Capital Days and Cultural Capital Week, and they are proudly some of the highlights of the academy calendar.

The first of these events will take place on Wednesday 17th December 2025.

Year 13 students will have the opportunity to receive one-to-one support with their Personal Statements and to finalise their UCAS application process. They will also have the chance to hear from our alumni, who will discuss their UCAS experiences and provide insight into their current university life.

Students who are interested in pursuing an apprenticeship pathway will be supported in developing their CV and cover letter, and will hear from a speaker about their experience of the apprenticeship application process.

Students are required to attend school at the normal time (8:25am) and will be dismissed at 1:15pm.

Yours faithfully,

Mr James Cowie

Head of Hawking School
