Dear parents and carers

RE: leadership at Leigh Academy Halley.

Leigh Academy Halley (LAH) is one of the most successful secondary schools in England according to Ofsted. Its recent inspection report validates the extraordinary progress made since the school joined Leigh Academies Trust (LAT) in 2018. Mr Russell has been at the helm as Principal in recent years and before that was one of LAH’s Heads of College. He has played a very substantial part in creating such a wonderful school for the community.

Following a recent national recruitment search, Mr Russell has been appointed to the LAT central team, starting in September, as Academies Director. This means that we will be advertising for a new Principal to begin in September and we are very confident we will make an excellent appointment. I will write to you again as soon as we have more information.

Whilst I know it will be disappointing to hear that Mr Russell is moving on, I can reassure families that one of the academies that he will be responsible for on behalf of the LAT central team will be LAH. This means he will be supporting the new Principal closely, will maintain all of his current connections with the school and will be visiting regularly. I know he will be extremely keen to maintain the current trajectory at LAH to ensure that the school enjoys even more success in the years to come.

Yours faithfully,

Simon Beamish

Chief Executive
