Dear Parent/Carer

Cultural Capital Day – Wednesday 25th March 2026

The second Cultural Capital Day of the academic year will take place on Wednesday 25th March and is designed to enrich students’ learning beyond the standard curriculum while supporting their academic and personal development.

Year 13
The day will focus on revision and examination preparation ahead of upcoming assessments. Most students will revise independently at home, completing revision activities set by their teachers.

  • Year 13 ICT students are required to attend a coursework intervention session in school.
  • Year 13 Applied Science students will use the day to finalise their controlled assessment units.
  • Students completing Year 13 Criminology controlled assessment resits (beginning Tuesday 24th March) will also attend school to complete this assessed work- and remain on site until its completion.

Students required on site should attend from 8:50am – 1:15pm.

Year 12
The majority of Year 12 students will attend a University Open Day at the University of Sussex, travelling by coach at no cost to students. This visit provides valuable insight into higher education and university life.

Students must arrive on site by 8:25am, with departure scheduled for 8:35am. We expect to return to school at approximately 3:45pm.

The University of Sussex is a highly regarded, research-intensive institution, ranked 1st in the world for Development Studies and 17th in the UK for graduate employability. Located near Brighton, it offers a vibrant and inclusive campus environment.

  • Year 12 Criminology students completing Unit 1 controlled assessment resits (starting Tuesday 24th March) will remain on site to complete their assessment until completion.
  • Year 12 T-Level Health Science students will attend a skills and practical workshop preparing them for their Year 13 Occupational Specialisms. These students should arrive at 8:25am and will finish at 1:15pm (after lunch).

We encourage all students to fully engage with the day’s opportunities to maximise both their academic progress and wider personal development.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully

Mr James Cowie

Head of Hawking School
