Leigh Academy Halley Letter Image

Dear Parent/Carer,

Leigh Academy Halley has been offered tickets at a reduced price for students to watch a live theatre performance of Here There are Blueberries at the Theatre Royal Stratford East, Gerry Raffles Square, Stratford, E15 1BN on Tuesday 24th February. This production is part of the holocaust memorial and is based on real events, based on an album filled with Nazi-era historical photographs that shines a light on the untold stories of the Holocaust and our humanity.

Tickets will be available on a first-come-first-served basis on ParentPay. Full payment of £11 must be made at the time of purchase. Failure to pay in full may result in your child’s place being forfeited.

We will travel to the theatre by train from Woolwich DLR Station, leaving the Academy at 12pm. The performance begins promptly at 2pm and lasts approximately 90 minutes, including a short interval. Please ensure your child attends the Academy school in their full uniform, wearing a suitable outdoor coat, and brings a packed lunch, as we will be leaving the Academy before lunchtime. A packed lunch will be provided for those students who receive a free school meal. We anticipate returning to Leigh Academy Halley at approximately 4.30pm, depending on the frequency of trains. Students will be dismissed upon their return to the Academy.

Please indicate on this Google Form whether you give your child permission to be dismissed straight from the Academy or whether your child will be collected by a parent, or another designated person.

The content advisory notes for this play on the Theatre Royal Stratford website states: “This production includes references to the Holocaust and contains archival photographs used as part of the storytelling, including images of Nazi officers. It also includes references to suicide. 12+”.
