Dear Parent and Carer,

Weather and Uniform Update – Wednesday 2nd July 2025

Thank you for your support and understanding over the past two days as we implemented temporary uniform adaptations in response to the extreme heat.

With the weather now due to change, and temperatures forecast to return to the low twenties with rain expected, we will be returning to our usual uniform expectations for all students from tomorrow, Wednesday 2nd July.

Please ensure your child attends the academy in full uniform as per our usual summer uniform expectations. As a reminder, it is not compulsory for students to bring or wear their blazers to the Academy. However, students must not wear a jumper rather than a blazer, which means that if a student is wearing their Leigh Academy Halley jumper that they must also be wearing their blazer.

Aside from this, our uniform remains the following: black school trousers or black school skirt, black school shoes, black socks, white school shirt, and the small school tie, worn at an appropriate length. Shirts must be tucked in, and the top button must be fastened at all times.

With regard to trousers, a reminder that students must not wear jeans or jersey-style trousers, leggings, or stretchy, nylon, ribbed, flared, or tight-fitting trousers. Trousers must be tailored school trousers.

Skirts should be no shorter than knee length and must be either pleated or a tailored pencil skirt, not jersey/stretchy/tube skirts.

Students must wear plain black school shoes.

We are looking forward to Sports Day on Friday this week. We will continue to monitor the forecast and will communicate any changes if required.

Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a safe and productive learning environment during this period of exceptional weather.

Yours faithfully

Ben Russell | Principal
