Leigh Academy Halley is proud to announce another year of exceptional achievement in our International Baccalaureate (IB) results for 2024/25, building on last year’s success to achieve our best IB results yet.

This year, our students have once again demonstrated the strength, ambition, and resilience to achieve excellent success.

Key highlights of this year’s results include:

  • 100% IB pass rate, improving on our already strong performance last year.
  • The Average Point Score increasing again this year, surpassing the Academy’s previous best.
  • 40% of Higher Level (HL) grades awarded at grade 5 or above – an 8% increase on last year.
  • 82% of HL grades at grade 4 or above – a 4% improvement on 2023/24. Grade 4 is considered the international average, making this a particularly impressive benchmark of student success.
  • A record number of students successfully passed the IB Careers-Related Programme, with a 5% increase in completion from the previous year.

Students achieved particularly strong outcomes in Psychology, Physics, Mathematics, English, and Global Politics. This reflects both the high quality of teaching and the commitment of learners across all IB pathways.

There were also standout individual successes this year:

  • Lily achieved an outstanding Grade 7 in English, alongside a 5 in biology and 6 in psychology.
  • Lydia secured an impressive Grade 6 in English and 5 in psychology.
  • Khadra excelled in the Careers-Related Programme, earning a B in her Reflective Project, a 5 in Physics, and a 6 in maths.
  • Hamza and Cyril both demonstrated strong performance in Maths and Science, each achieving a Grade 6 in Maths and 4 in physics.

Mr Russell, Principal of Leigh Academy Halley, commented:

“We could not be more delighted with the results of our Year 13 students. All their hard work and commitment has really paid off, and is a testament to the high quality teaching and pastoral care that students benefit from at Leigh Academy Halley. We wish our departing IB students the best of luck, and cannot wait to hear of their continued successes at the university and apprenticeship courses of their choosing.”

With a rigorous and inclusive IB curriculum that supports academic excellence and personal development, Leigh Academy Halley continues to provide transformative opportunities for students of all backgrounds. This year’s results affirm our status as a leading provider of post-16 education in the borough and community we serve.

Looking ahead, we are eagerly anticipating the release of our vocational results (BTEC, CTEC, and T-Level) in mid-August, where we hope to see even more fantastic outcomes.
