Important Update Regarding School Uniform Standards

Dear Parent/Carer,

Important Update Regarding School Uniform Standards

At Leigh Academy Halley, we take great pride in our professional learning environment. To ensure all students can thrive, we maintain high standards of dress that reflect the discipline and focus of our community.

Recently, we have noted that the standard of uniform among some students, specifically regarding skirt length, is not currently aligned with our published Uniform Policy. We appreciate this is affected by the trends of some retailers and urge you to ensure that if your child chooses to wear a skirt, it is of appropriate length, if you decide to purchase this outside of the uniform supplier. We would also like to remind parents/carers that all students have the choice of wearing either a skirt or trousers.

To ensure clarity for both students and parents/carers, please note the following requirement

  • Skirt Length – Skirts must be worn at knee length as a minimum. When the student is standing, there should be no visible gap between the bottom of the skirt hem and the top of the knee.

We wish to work collaboratively with you and your child to rectify these issues. Over the next 12 days, we will be conducting a period of reminders and guidance. Tutors and Academy staff will speak with students to reinforce expectations and provide clear reminders of the policy.

From Monday 16th March, the Uniform Policy will be strictly enforced. Any student who remains in breach of uniform expectations after this date will be removed from general circulation until the issue is resolved.

We understand that replacing uniform items can sometimes present a challenge. If you require financial assistance to ensure your child meets these expectations, or if you have any questions regarding this notice, please contact your child’s small school.

We appreciate your continued support in helping us maintain a professional atmosphere that prepares our students for future success.

Yours faithfully,

Debra Watling | Deputy Principal
