Dear Parent/Carer,
Career 1-1 Interviews – Year 11 & 13
We are delighted to inform you that as part of our commitment to supporting students in planning for their futures, your child will have the opportunity to participate in a one-to-one career interview with a qualified careers advisor. These career interviews are tailored to each student’s goals and aspirations and are designed to empower students with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their future, whether they are exploring post-16 or post-18 options, or considering long-term career aspirations.
The interviews will be taking place throughout modules 3–5; each interview will last approximately 30 minutes during the school day. Students will be informed in advance of the date and time of their scheduled interview.
What can students gain from these sessions?
Career guidance is an essential part of preparing students for their next steps. These one-to-one sessions provide tailored advice, allowing students to gain:
- A clearer understanding of their options and how to achieve their aspirations
- Understanding of post-16 and post-18 options, including academic and vocational qualifications, apprenticeships, and university pathway
- Personalised guidance based on their goals and ambitions
- Confidence in planning their future steps
- Awareness of the opportunities and resources available to further their career development
All students will complete a pre-interview questionnaire and a reflection after their interview. We encourage all students to make the most of this valuable opportunity by coming prepared with any questions or topics they would like to discuss. If you have any questions about the career interviews or would like further information, please feel free to contact me at isabel.ruthven@halley.latrust.org.uk.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child prepare for a successful future.
Yours faithfully,
Ms Isabel Ruthven
Deputy Head of Franklin School
