Dear Parent/Carer,
At the end of Module 4, the Academy will take part in the second of three Cultural Capital events this academic year. Our Cultural Capital days and week (at the end of the academic year), offer unique opportunities to students to participate in exciting activities in line with National Curriculum guidance.
The Cultural Capital day will take place on Wednesday 25th March. Students in Year 10 will be attending educational visits. Your child will be visiting The Museum of the Home.
The Museum of the Home
The Museum of the Home explores home and home life from 1600 to the present day, with galleries which ask questions about ‘home’, presenting diverse lived experiences alongside a series of period room displays. Students will explore how we lived in the past and how we might live in the future.
Before leaving the Academy, students will take part in a brief workshop linked to their learning and knowledge of art, design and technology.
Students will travel on public transport using the Transport for London School Travel Scheme. All students will depart from the Academy to commence their trip, and will return to the Academy at the end of their trip, so that they can be registered before being dismissed. If this trip returns before the end of the Academy day, students will be dismissed upon arrival.
All students should attend in their normal Academy uniform and are advised to wear an appropriate winter coat, suitable for cooler March temperatures. They will also need to bring a packed lunch and students eligible for a free school meal will be provided with a packed lunch. Spending money for souvenirs is to be kept to a reasonable amount.
If you have any questions, please email a member of your child’s small school team.
Yours faithfully,
Mrs H. Panton
Deputy Head of Turing School
