Relationships and Sex Education – Year 10
As a part of your child’s education at Leigh Academy Halley, we promote personal well-being and development through a comprehensive Values Education Programme that is taught primarily in our tutor periods. Our Values Curriculum is the subject that gives young people the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and practical skills to live safe, healthy, productive lives and meet their full potential.
I am writing to let you know that during module 3 and 4 your child’s class will be taking part in lessons that will focus on the relationships and sex education (RSE) aspect of this programme. RSE lessons in Year 10 will include teaching about sexual health, sexual activity, sexual images, STIs, pregnancy, fertility and miscarriage. Students will also have opportunities to ask questions that help prepare them for relationships of all kinds in the modern world. Values education is taught throughout the Academy in every year group. Please explore the Academy’s RSE Policy for more details about our Values Curriculum. All values teaching will take place in a safe learning environment and is underpinned by our school ethos and values.
