Dear Parent/Carer,
Year 12 Career Opportunities – Mock Interview Day & Apprenticeship Summit
We are pleased to inform you of two exciting upcoming career-development opportunities for our Year 12 students at Leigh Academy Halley. Both events are designed to support students in developing employability skills, exploring career pathways, and preparing for future academic or professional applications.
Year 12 Mock Interview & Preparation Day – Wednesday 4th February to Thursday 5th February 2026
Thanks to our livery company sponsor, The Tallow Chandlers, our Year 12 cohort has been invited to take part in a Mock Interview & Preparation Day at their historic venue in central London (4 Dowgate Hill, London, EC4R 2SH).
Each student will experience a bespoke mock interview led by professional volunteers, tailored to their individual areas of interest. This is an excellent opportunity for students to build confidence and develop interview skills essential for university, apprenticeship, and employment applications.
The event will run across three sessions, with each student attending one session only:
- Group 1: Morning of Wednesday 4th February 2026
- Group 2: Morning of Thursday 5th February 2026
- Group 3: Afternoon of Thursday 5th February 2026
Students will be allocated to groups by the Hawking School team based on their expressed career interests and will be informed of their session shortly.
Transport to and from the venue will be by train, organised by the Academy, with staff accompanying students throughout the journey and event. All sessions take place within school hours. Group 3 students will return to Kidbrooke Station shortly after the normal Academy day ends and will be dismissed from there.
Year 12 Royal Borough of Greenwich Apprenticeship Summit – Tuesday 10th February 2026
Year 12 students will also attend the Royal Borough of Greenwich Apprenticeship Summit at Woolwich Works. This event is designed to inspire and inform students about apprenticeship opportunities and future career pathways.
The summit will include:
- Presentations from leading apprenticeship organisations
- Insights from current apprentices
- Practical guidance on accessing apprenticeships
- Networking opportunities with employers and training providers
Event details:
- Date: Tuesday 10th February 2026
- Time: 9.30am – 12.30pm
- Location: Woolwich Works, 11 No. 1 Street, Royal Arsenal, SE18 6HD
- Travel: 161/178 bus to Woolwich, followed by a short walk
On the day, students should arrive at the Academy at the usual time (8.25am) in smart business dress. At the start of Period 1, Year 12 students should go to the restaurant for registration and preparation for departure. Students will return to the Academy after the event for lunch and their remaining lessons. There is no cost for this event.
We are delighted to offer these opportunities, which we believe will significantly benefit our Year 12 students as they plan their next steps beyond school.
If you have any questions or require further information, please feel free to contact me.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours faithfully,
Mr James Cowie | Head of Hawking School
