Dear Parent/Carer,

Extracurricular Programme – Module 2

We have had a fantastic start to our extensive extracurricular programme in Module one, and are pleased to announce additional clubs and amendments to the existing schedule. The wide number of clubs on offer is also a sign of the dedication and commitment of our staff that all students reach their full potential inside and outside the classroom. Please find the list of the clubs on offer here.

The Music department are leading two new clubs: Halley Rock Band Club, and the Year 8 Vocal Club. The Halley Rock Band club will take place every Thursday from 3.15-4pm, and is open to Key Stage students. The Vocal Club will meet during second lunch, 1.35pm-2pm every Thursday, and is open to Year 8 students only. Students participating in this club will be permitted to eat lunch in the Creative Arts room 4, to allow them to take part in a timely fashion.

The PE department has added Year 9 football to the programme with the support of Mr Murray, and there are separate football sessions for Year 7 and Year 8 students. Additionally, to support Mr Small and his team’s preparation for local competitions, Year 8 boys’ football training during Module 2 and 3 will be on a team selection basis. Students who have successfully made the team have been notified separately.

Racket Sports Club also has two sessions – Year 7 and 8 students every Tuesday, and Years 9 10 students every Thursday.

All STEM clubs have moved to Monday after the Academy day: STEM Club, STEM Racing Car Club and Girls in STEM.

There is Key Stage 3 maths homework support available in the Library every Tuesday as part of the Homework Club Programme, and Key Stage 3 Science homework support available every Friday in room F10 with Mr Simpson.

Those students who are already registered for clubs, do not need to reregister and they are welcome to join the new clubs available to their year group by completing this Google Form. Students who have not yet joined a club, can register their interest by completing the Google Form too. The form will remain open all year and is updated for each module, according to the clubs on offer. Registers for all clubs will be taken by the staff leading the session. All clubs take place on the Academy site and staff will escort students to the front gate at the end of their session. By signing your child up for a club, you agree that they will adhere to all our usual Academy safety and behaviour policies.

Please email your child’s Small School if you require further information.

Yours faithfully,

Miss H. Panton | Deputy Head of Turing School
