Dear Parent/Carer,

End of Module 5 Arrangements

As we reach the end of Module 5, we reflect on the learning opportunities and personal development activities that have taken place throughout this module for students.

Our Year 11 and Year 13 students have made an impressive start to the exam season and are showing true commitment to their preparations for these important exams. Our staff continues to provide exceptional academic and pastoral support during this intensive period. We encourage students to take full advantage of the summer school and Saturday sessions available, maximising their time with their teachers during lessons.  We wish all students the very best ongoing success in their exams.

Students have been able to enrich their learning experiences through several visits and a wide range of sporting fixtures and competitions. This module, our aspiring medics visited St Bartholomew’s Hospital, a number of year 10s visited City, University of London, and a London heart surgeon visited the Academy to share his expertise through a series of Masterclasses for several year groups. Our Years 7 and 8 students competed in the LAT tag rugby tournament, competing against all other LAT secondary schools. These valuable experiences enhance students’ education and also create special memories.

Leigh Academy Halley is very proud to be supported by the Worshipful Company of Tallow Chandlers, a London Livery Company. This module, 8 students from Years 10 and 12 attended the prestigious Tallow Chandlers Awards Luncheon in their historic hall in London. The students met with members of the Tallow Chandlers Company, discussed their educational experiences and reasons for being selected due to being outstanding role models by upholding Leigh Academy Halley values and their high academic performance across the curriculum.

Year 9 students have been considering their next steps in choosing the subjects they would like to take in Key Stage 4. This is a very important time for students as they look toward the future and how they might shape their studies. We thank all parents/carers for supporting their child in making these important decisions; everyone involved in the individual meetings thoroughly enjoyed the productive conversations.

This module has also seen the students enjoying our many extracurricular clubs every week.  Once again, we have had morning clubs as well as a huge range of clubs on offer at the end of the day.

A reminder that the last day of Module 5 is Friday 23rd May 2025; we will be following normal timings of the day with all students finishing at 3:10pm. The Academy will be closed to all students next week, apart from those attending our Year 11, 12 and 13 May Half Term School Sessions.

The Academy will re-open to all students at the usual time on Monday 2nd June 2025 after the early summer break.

Please do keep in touch with your child’s small school if you require any support. We hope you have a restful half-term break and a brilliant bank holiday weekend.

Yours faithfully,

Ben Russell | Principal
